

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward A. Novalis, beloved husband of Madeline, who left us on March 22, 2025, at the age of 82. Edward’s departure leaves a void in the lives of his family, friends, and all who knew him. Edward was born on August 9, 1942, in Indiana, Pennsylvania, and his life was marked by his kindness and generosity. He and Madeline shared a deep and enduring love that spanned 44 years of marriage, and their partnership was a true testament to the strength of their bond.
Edward received his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and went on to earn a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University. He dedicated his professional life as an educator in history. Edward also served on the scholarship selection committee of the Irish Social Club, where he contributed his time and wisdom to help support and guide young talent within the community.
Outside of his professional life, Edward found joy in his many passions, including spending time with his beloved dog, Ruby, whose companionship brought him immense comfort and joy. He was an avid golfer, always relishing the time spent on the course, and had a deep love for travel, exploring new places and experiencing different cultures with Madeline by his side.
Edward was a man of great integrity and compassion, and his memory will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is now at peace and will be laid to rest alongside his wife, Madeline.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 4, 2025, 11:00 AM at Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church. He will be laid to rest immediately following the mass at Flagler Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Foundation of Community Hospice & Palliative Care in Edward’s memory.
Edward's legacy will forever be cherished by his family and friends, and he will be remembered for his kindness, love, and devotion to those he held dear.
