Eleanor “Spanky” Barnes, 72 of Palm Coast, Florida passed away on December 8, 2017, at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on January 1, 1945 in Jamaica West Indies to the late Charley Chang and Maybelle Albertha Walker. At the age of 19 she moved to Washington D.C and worked as a manager at the Quality Inn in Capitol Hill and at NEA credit union. In 1989 she moved to Palm Coast and opened Caribbean Emporium in St. Joe’s Plaza. Eleanor also became a Real Estate Agent and worked for Palm Coast Inc. a subsidiary of ITT. Her memberships included the United Caribbean Cultural Association and First Baptist Church of Palm Coast. Eleanor enjoyed dancing, traveling, cooking and socializing. She will always be remembered as a “Social Butterfly”. Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Ernie Barnes; son, Richard Harper of Jamaica; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and a host of many more relatives and wonderful friends. A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2017 from 10:00 AM – 11 AM., at the First Baptist Church of Palm Coast, 6050 Palm Coast Parkway NW in Palm Coast, where funeral services will be at 11:00 AM.
