Elena wasn't related to us by blood, but she was part of our family in every other way.Forty years ago,she answered an ad to take care of our three young children, so I could have a few hours for myself during the week. For me she was a god-send; for my children she was a fairy
godmother. For the next seven years, before she and Bob moved to Florida, she engaged them in all kinds of creative activities and games .Frequently, she would pile them into her van and they made short excursions.
Most of all, they loved spending time in her house. Lunch or dinner with Elena and Bob was a treat;food always tasted better at Elena's.They loved helping decorate the tree for Christmas and laughed with delight as "Santa Claus"came down the chimney.
Elena celebrated our family's holidays
and life cycle events as well. She joined us on Hanukah and Passover and made special trips to NY to be there for our children 's Bat and Bar Mitzvahs and our daughter's wedding.
Elena is no longer with us physically but she will always remain in our lives.Love never dies.May her memory be for a blessing

I remember how devastated I was when it hit me that Elena would be moving to Florida after taking care of me and my siblings for so many years. We LOVED going to Elena's! Everyone LOVED going to Elena's! I remember the hours we spent with her and have so many wonderful childhood memories-from playing Donkey Kong, to eating her delicious spaghetti with meat sauce, helping to decorate the Christmas tree, spending time drawing and always being amazed by her beautiful cursive handwriting, singing Mares Eat Oats together, sleeping over and waking up to the smell of bacon and eggs.... Elena was so thoughtful, kind, patient, and creative. One thing she would never tell me and my siblings was her age until our bar mitzvah, when she promised she would.
I am so thankful that she came into our lives (As I am sure my parents were!) I will miss you so much Elena. I love you
