Ernest Monroe Abbott, Sr., 89, of Daytona Beach, Florida and formerly from Wilmington, North Carolina, entered into rest on August 26, 2020. He was born in Joplin, Missouri on August 16, 1931. Mr. Abbott served in the 82nd. Airborne Division of the United States Army going on to establish and retire from a successful career in the financial industry. He was an avid golfer, achieving a 3 handicap, accumulating multiple tournament wins in Wilmington and the surrounding areas.
He is preceded in death by his son, Ernest Abbott, Jr., and survived by his son, Charles Abbott and wife Anita, son, James Abbott and, daughter, Judy Sneeden and husband Ronald. Ernest is also survived by his sister, Leona Schneider, twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was an amazing man with a gentle soul who was loved by those who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
