

Fernando “Freddie” Melo Costa, 74, of Palm Coast passed away peacefully on Thursday morning January 12, 2023 at Stuart Meyer Hospice House of Palm Coast. Fernando was born to Laureano and Maria Salsa on September 24, 1948 in Ribeira Grande, São Miguel, Azores, Portugal. He emigrated to the U.S. at the age of 19. He retired from Charles Construction Co. as a foreman and chose Palm Coast as his home in June 2011.
Fernando was a member of the Portuguese American Club of Palm Coast and a member of the Portuguese Madeirense Sports Club of Fall River, Massachusetts. He was also a member of the Local 385 Labor Union. He was a member of St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church of Palm Coast and a former member of St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church of Fall River, Massachusetts.
Fernando is predeceased by his father, Laureano Costa Salsa and his mother, Maria da Luz Salsa from Ribeira Grande, São Miguel, Azores, and his brother, Adriano Melo Costa.
Fernando is survived by his wife, Mary C. Costa, his sons, Richard N. Costa and his partner Kyle A. Henson of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Kevin F. Costa and his wife Renee D. Costa of Fall River, Massachusetts, his grandchildren, Timothy M. Costa, and Nathan R. Costa of Fall River, Massachusetts, and many other family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
There will be a Memorial Service Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 10AM at St Anthony Padua Catholic Church at 48 16th St. Fall River, Massachusetts 02723 immediately followed by inurnment at St Patrick’s Cemetery, 2233 Robeson St. Fall River, Massachusetts 02720.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society in memory of Fernando Costa would be greatly appreciated.
