George Joseph “Joe” Lorbeck, Jr. a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend passed away on June 6, 2025 in Palm Coast, Florida at the age of 44. Joe was born on December 18, 1980 to George and Catheryn Lorbeck and resided in Robbinsville, New Jersey until relocating to Flagler County, Florida to live near his family.
Joe graduated from The Hun School of Princeton where he met one of his lifelong friends, Michael Bear. While attending Hun Joe played for the Raiders ice hockey team. After high school Joe attended Rutgers University and continued playing ice hockey, this time for the Scarlett Knights. Following his graduation from Rutgers, Joe held various jobs and was eventually able to put his compassionate, patient personality to good use as a job coach for adults with autism at Eden W.E.R.C.s. Joe also managed a family business, Collier’s Mills Mobile Home Park in New Jersey for many years. Once he relocated to Florida Joe began working at Palm Terrace, the other family business, and played recreational roller, deck and ice hockey.
Joe was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, supporting the Flyers, Eagles, and Phillies. He was known to travel the country to see his favorite band Ween. He also enjoyed playing video games, specifically sports games. Joe was known to be extremely funny, very quick-witted and had a certain sense of sarcasm that only he could pull off. Joe quietly had one of the biggest hearts, he was extremely empathetic and always there to lend a shoulder to cry on. He had an uncanny ability to say exactly what you needed to hear, when you needed to hear it.
Joe is survived by his parents, George and Cathy Lorbeck, his canine child, Diamond, his sisters Amy Montaner (Fred) and Kerri Banks (Mike), as well as a cousin that was like a sister, Jylian Repetski. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Anikka, Kayla, Karissa, Kelsey, Fede, and Charles and several special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any charitable donations in Joe’s name go to the Live Like Cameron organization or Sophie’s Circle Dog Rescue.
