Helene Bedrock

Helene Bedrock, 91, of Palm Coast, Florida, formerly of Randolph, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026. She leaves behind a remarkable life filled with adventure, determination, love of family, and compassion for both people and animals.

Helene was born on January 6, 1935, in Sion, Switzerland, to the late Oscar and Augustine Imboden. In her early twenties, she emigrated to England, where she became a governess for the Oglivy family, whose family business was a prominent advertising agency. When the Oglivy family later relocated to New York City, Helene accompanied them, beginning a new chapter in her life that would ultimately lead her to her future husband.

While living in New York, Helene was socializing at the English Club when an unexpected moment changed the course of her life. She tripped and fell down a few steps, and Ronald Bedrock was there to catch her. What began as a chance encounter soon blossomed into love, and the two were married shortly thereafter. Together, Helene and Ronald shared 61 years of marriage and devoted themselves to raising their four children.

She had a deep love for animals and generously volunteered her time at the Cliffside Park, New Jersey Animal Shelter, caring for animals who needed compassion and a helping hand.

In her forties, Helene discovered another passion that would become an important part of her life—running. What began as a new hobby soon became a remarkable personal achievement. She trained and competed in marathons, including the New York City Marathon, the Boston Marathon, Bermuda, Russia and numerous smaller races during her career. A newspaper article was written and she was dubbed “Marathon Mom”. She was also a proud member of the New York City Road Runners Club. Her willingness to challenge herself and embrace new adventures was a reflection of the spirited woman she was throughout her life.

Helene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage; and her siblings, Andre and Charlie.

She is survived by her four children, Neale and his wife, Pam; Keith and his wife, Chris; Pamela and her husband. Peter; Roy and his wife, Michelle. Grandchildren; Audrey, James, Valerie, Ethan and Madeline; Great-Grandchildren; Augustus, Roman and Natalie.

Helene will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her determination, her love of animals, and most of all, the love and devotion she gave to her family. Her life was one of courage, discovery, and a willingness to embrace whatever adventure came next. The memories she created with those she loved will remain in their hearts for generations to come.
