Born in Azerbaijan on September 28, 1927, Jalina's early life was shaped by the turbulence of World War II. She emigrated with her family through Russia and was later relocated to a work camp in Germany, where she met her future husband, Jean Garcia. Together, they journeyed through France—where Jean had family—before settling in Maryland in the 1950s to begin a new chapter in America.
Jalina built a career in sales at a department store, where her elegance and impeccable style were always noted. She was known for being well dressed, poised, and gracious. Deeply devoted to her faith, Jalina was a founding member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Bunnell, where she found a spiritual home and a loving community.
She had a special affection for animals, especially her beloved cats, Abbott and Costello, and later, Oka, who captured her heart.
Jalina is survived by her cherished church family, who stood by her throughout her life. She leaves behind a legacy of resilience, faith, and grace.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Bunnell, Florida, in care of Fr. Vladimir Kaydanov, 28 Riddle Drive, Unit #A, Palm Coast, FL. 32164.
