Dear Veronica I hope you see this it is the time of year that I do my Christmas cards and hadn't heard from you in the last 2 years. So I came across Allen's obituary. I am so sadden to read this. Allen gave me my first job out of high school and I worked as his secretary for 8 years. He was so patient with me and taught me so much. You were like family to me. I hope you are well yourself and please drop me a note with your new address if you are in Florida now. Much love Lori Mendes

Allen Kerr was my 16-year old grandson, Jack Dane Kerr’s grandfather, and he (and my father—although technically he was Jack’s great grandfather, for all practical purposes he was Jack’s OTHER grandfather) were THE BEST GRANDFATHERS that Jack could have EVER had, from the day that Jack was born, until the day—sadly—Allen passed away, both he and his wife—and Jack’s grandmother, Veronica, ALWAYS spent as much “QUALITY” time with Jack as possible. When Jack was a little baby they “babysat” him all the time so that his mother and Jack’s father (Allen’s son, Jordan Kerr) could work and have an occasional “date night” together, and they read to him all the time from the time he was a little baby until the day that Jack learned to read himself. They also took him to a library and got him his first “library card” so he could check out even more books for either them to read to him or he could read himself. They took him took him to numerous museums (which he ALWAYS LOVED), they shared their love of “history” with him, and to this day, Jack’s favorite subject is “History,” Allen and I (Jack’s grandmother on his mother’s side (Karen Dane) together taught him how to ride a bicycle, they took him on numerous wonderful vacations and “adventurous” places like famous “caves” in remote places, they cooked his FAVORITE foods for him and took him “out to eat” at many different restaurants, they attended EVERY ONE of Jack’s birthdays—whenever possible, they always gave him thoughtful—and often both fun and educational presents, they took him swimming at both beaches and pools all the time, and they visited him or had Jack stay with them as often as possible, but most of all Allen (and Veronica) loved Jack unconditionally with all their hearts, and Jack loved Allen (and loves Veronica) unconditionally and with all his heart too (and so did I). Jack, Veronica, Allen’s two children, Jordan and Analeise Kerr, and I will ALL MISS HIM terribly, but he will ALWAYS be in our hearts.

Dearest Veronica,
Allen did many wonderful deeds during his 77 years on earth for people needing his help & advice. He may have been a pacifist but he surely was a warrior for his fellow human beings throughout his journey of life. God bless your dedication & wifely strength.

May Allen be at peace in heaven and you have peace in your heart and soul.

Barbara from Connecticut
