Jim was born and raised in Philadelphia PA and attended Olney High School where he was a Varsity athlete in four sports. It was there that he met the love of his life, Marybeth Casselberry. They were married after he graduated from the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science on a basketball scholarship. Winning the NCAA Division 2 championship was the highlight of his college career. But winning the hand of his Mars was his true accomplishment. They had a long and beautiful marriage which they both treasured.
Upon college graduation, Jim worked at Proctor Silex where he quickly rose through the ranks to Plant Manager in Altoona, PA. He often described that job as the one that catapulted him to success. He moved on to the international steel industry where he had a storied career in executive sales and eventually became Chief Operating Officer of Metalimphy Alloys Corporation.
Jim loved to golf…ALOT, and often traveled to the most beautiful places in the world with his wife and golf bag. He also loved deep sea fishing, especially in the Florida Keys, on his boat the IM Slick with his family and friends. Spending time with his precious family was a passion of Jim’s and the memories of their gatherings, often with loud music and a karaoke microphone, are cherished by all.
Jim is survived by his wife Marybeth, their children, Marybeth (Michael) Boyle, James (Georgia) Slick, their grandchildren, Carly (Kevin) Maguire, Brian (Erika) Kilgore, Alexandra Slick, their great grandchildren, Rose Maguire, Michael Maguire and Jack Kilgore, his brother-in-law Jesse (Maryanne) Casselberry, nephews and nieces, Jesse (Edie) Casselberry, Michael Casselberry, Nina Casselberry and many dear friends.
A memorial mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 4, 2024, 11:00AM St. Mary's Catholic Church.
