Mrs. Rutledge was born August 4, 1933 in New York City, a daughter of Samuel and Ruth Sonenthal Heimowitz.
She graduated from Seward Park High School in New York City. After graduating, she worked for the State of New York, retiring in 1996. She and her husband Bertram became snowbirds in 1990, and became permanent residents of Palm Coast in 1996. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, “Stitch and Bitch”, past member of Temple Beth Shalom for 10 years. Janet also enjoyed reading, mah-jongg, and crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Bertram Rutledge. Three children, Suzanne (John) O’Meally; Tim Rutledge and Dan (Rebecca) Rutledge. Six grandchildren, Michael, Tyler, Dylan (Fiancée Brianna), Alexandra, August, Lauren. One Great grandchild, Xander. One brother-in-law, William Rutledge and most of all her beloved dog, Boomer. Donations in her memory may be made to your local Humane Society in your area or Trees for Israel. Janet will be forever remembered for her love and devotion to her family and her fur babies.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Benay and Marilyn.
