

Jeffrey Thomas Carnes (Jeff) age 60, of Flagler Beach, died last week of natural causes. He was born January 19, 1958 in Jacksonville, FL, the son of Thomas Carnes and Joyce (Kelly) Carnes. Jeff grew up in Jacksonville and Jax Beach, with time spent in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and Tirrenia, Italy, where he attended Livorno American High School before returning to graduate from Fletcher High School in 1976. Jeff was active in all sports and excelled in track and field, baseball, basketball, and football, receiving a scholarship to play football at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. After completing his studies at Tulane, Jeff relocated to Gainesville, FL where he worked for Gainesville Regional Utilities, and graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Civil Engineering. Jeff also worked for Miner & Miner, and Northrop Grumman Information Systems in Gainesville and Landworks Inc.in Houston, TX doing Geographical Information Systems work throughout his career.
Jeff loved the beach, traveling, all Gator sports (his pregame football parties were legendary), music and attending concerts, and his two beautiful and accomplished daughters, Shannon and Emily.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Rene Schreiber Carnes, two daughters, Shannon Carnes and Emily Carnes, two brothers, John Carnes and Timothy Carnes, and a sister, Beth Carnes Loftus, maternal Aunt Judith Grove, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and a great niece. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held on Saturday, July 14th, 1:00PM at Flagler Beach
