Born on May 26, 1931, in Brooklyn, New York, Joan was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah Schnepf. In 1952, she married the love of her life, Norman Young. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised three children in Franklin Square, Long Island, New York.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Joan dedicated herself to her family, raising her children while working part-time. She was a woman of deep faith and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mineola, New York, and later Grace Presbyterian Church in Palm Coast, Florida, after she and Norman relocated there 13 years ago.
Joan found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved playing bingo, singing in the church choir, and most of all, spending time with her family, whom she cherished above all else.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Norman Young, in 2021.
Joan is survived by her children, Susan (Tom) Pickrodt, John (Louise) Young, and Karen (Gene) Bergin; grandchildren, Nicole (Joe) Triolo, Ryan (Angela) Young, Jack Young, Katherine Young, Christina (Tim) Udell, and Michelle (Corey) Udell; brother, Raphael (Margaret) Schnepf; eight great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; 3 nephews and their spouses with many more loving relatives and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children—two causes close to her heart.
