Joe married his first wife Linda after they met in New Jersey and relocated to central Florida in the early 80’s when they purchased their home in Korona, FL. Together they raised three children and built a beautiful life together.
Joe quickly established himself as a reputable and reliable diesel mechanic in the Flagler County trucking community, eventually starting his own truck repair company with his son. (They nicknamed themselves “Porch Buzzards”, because they would sit on the porch waiting for their next job.) He served as the Fire Chief for many years at the Korona Volunteer Fire Department, was a member at The Masonic Lodge in Ormond Beach and a member of ABATE a Motorcycle Rights Organization.
Tragedy struck in 1993 when Linda succumbed to breast cancer at the age of 48. Despite this profound loss, Joe was lucky to find his best friend, wife and soulmate Sue. Joe and Sue were married in 1995 and had a love like no other.
Joe loved riding and against all odds survived what should have been a critical motorcycle accident in 2005 and thought that he would never ride again, but he did. He loved hosting Bike Week events at his home in Korona and shared his love and spirit for riding and motorcycles with his many friends. You could always find Joe spending quality time on his back porch with a beer in hand surrounded by cherished family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Newman, in 1993, and his father, Vic Newman in 2013. Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Sue; his children, Andrew Bosley (Sue), Cheryl Boulanger (Bob), and Carrie Bosley; grandchildren, Sandy Bertha, Michelle Bosley and Victoria Boulanger; great-grandchild, William Scully; mother, Ruth Newman and sisters, Sandi Ray (Dale), Wendy Crews, and Tammy Newman. Joe also leaves behind numerous nieces/nephews and many close friends who were considered family.
Joe Newman's legacy lives on through the memories he created with everyone, he was always there no matter what, to help someone in need or just a kind ear and shoulder to cry on. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the warmth of the love he so freely gave. So raise your glasses and remember the man!
