My name is Philip Crossman and I have been John's hiring coordinator for Criminal Justice courses at the Community College of Vermont for a number of years. On behalf of the college and the many many Vermont students that John has taught over the semesters, I just want to say "thank you." He will be dearly missed. To his family and friends in Florida, our deepest sympathy for your loss.

I'm so sorry to hear of Professor Botta's passing. He touched many lives for the better. At Franklin Pierce, I was among the many faculty and students who benefited from the work he did developing our online courses and programs. His thoughtful, accessible, and conscientious approach shone through in all of his work and writing, as did his kind spirit. My sincerest condolences to Professor Botta's family and friends.

I met John 20 years ago and the connection was immediate. We worked together in different capacities, many times in new projects. He was a Maverick. Over the years, we became good friends. I loved hearing his stories. He told them with such passion! Every time I needed him, he was there with a smile. I will miss him and his camaraderie. John, you left a lasting impression in so many students!

We are saddened to hear of the early passing of John. Our condolences to the Botta family. Since meeting almost 15 years ago, John intrigued us with his stories of adventure with Carol and the family, sometimes together sometimes just with one child. To simplify it , John LIVED life, we will miss him, but are glad to have known him!
