John was born on February 2, 1955 in Uniontown, PA, son of Eleanor OBrien Vernic and John S. OBrien. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Gerri and their sons Felix (Dawn) and Joseph (Regina) Toral. He was the Beloved Papa John to his grandchildren Austin, Alexis, Arianna and Anthony. John was predeceased by his parents John S. OBrien and Eleanor OBrien Vernic, as well as his brother Paul OBrien. Mourning his loss are sisters Coleen (Cherici), Claudia (Billy) Benson, Fred (Maryann) Vernic, as well as nieces and nephew. (Nicole, Kristen, Eva and Andy and Grandnephew Matthew)
John was a graduate of Syosset HS on Long Island, NY and owned and operated Larkfield Plaza Delicatessen in E. Northport, NY. The family moved to Florida in 2005 where John worked as a local landscaper for many neighbors and friends. His love of music and attending concerts and shows was one of his favorite pastimes, as well as spending quality beach time with his beloved Opie, Della & Moe.
Friends and family will be received at Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home, (511 Old Kings Road So., Flagler Beach 32136) on Friday, December 30, 2022 from 10:00 am 2:00 pm with Burial to follow.
