

Joseph “Joe” John Kiertekles II, age 82, passed away on June 28, 2026. Joe was born on July 31, 1943, in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, to his parents, Joseph John Kiertekles, Sr. and Anastasia Kiertekles. He graduated from Florida State University and later enlisted in the United States Navy, serving in the intelligence division during the Vietnam War. Stationed in Guam and Hawaii, Joe often spoke highly of his time in the Navy and was proud to be a Veteran. As a young man, he was active and adventurous, with a love for tennis and surfing.
After his military service, Joe worked as an insurance agent until his retirement in 2010.He was a natural salesman, known for his big personality, quick wit, and ability to make friends wherever he went. Joe’s greatest joy was making others laugh, always ready with a joke and a sharp sense of humor.
Joe married his wife, Carol, in 2004, and together they built a loving blended family that brought him immense happiness. He adored his pets and was rarely without a loyal dog at his side. His grandchildren were among his greatest joys, and he cherished being their “Papa.”
Joe is survived by his spouse, Carol; his children, Joseph John Kiertekles III, his spouse, Julie, and their daughter Hailey; Kristen Young, her spouse, Steven, and their children, Mackenzie and William; and Frederick Crowdus and his spouse, Danielle. He
is also survived by his siblings, Anne Blaire and Ray Kiertekles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph John Kiertekles, Sr. and Anastasia Kiertekles.
A Celebration Gathering With Military Honors will be held at Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road South, Flagler Beach, Florida 32136, on August 1, 2026, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
