She is survived by her husband of 48 years, John Bulman; Children, Kevin Bulman and Christine Daly (Chris), 2 grandchildren, Kyle (Josie) and Evan (Jasmin) Daly, 3 great-grandchildren Charlie, Adeline, and Lucas, Cousins Jim, Judi, Margie and Tom, and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Bulman was born on November 8, 1946, in Clearfield PA to Gilbert and Edna Cowder. She grew up there and attended Lock Haven State College where she discovered her calling to be a teacher. She moved to Maryland where she taught hundreds of kindergarteners at Montgomery Knolls Elementary. Karen was a master teacher and had a true gift of patience and skill in nurturing and guiding young children. In the latter part of her career, she evolved into an exceptional mentor, and was always a valued resource to fellow teachers, experienced or new.
In 1977, Karen met the love of her life, John, they married July 1, 1978. They built a beautiful life together in Maryland working, traveling and enjoying time with family and friends. With this union, Karen became the best bonus mom to Kevin and Christine. She was an amazing grandmother to her grandsons and in recent years was able to spend special moments with her great grandchildren. After retirement from over 30 years of teaching, Karen and John moved to Florida in 2003. There she spent many happy years living life to its fullest with new friendships, faith and family.
Karen was a devout Catholic, attending Mass every day and volunteering much of her free time to several ministries and handling the needs of three churches. From 2003 to 2019, she was involved in all aspects of the day-to-day operations of Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church, including Assistant Parish Manager, Faith Formation Catechist, member of Parish Council, Finance Council, Education Committee, Stewardship Committee, Eucharist minister, Ladies Council, counting team lead and member of the Family-to-Family Food Pantry.
In 2019, she joined St. Brendan’s Catholic Church and became a member and Treasurer of the St. Brendan’s Council of Catholic Women (CCW) and was a past member of the Outreach Food Pantry. She volunteered to do whatever was needed, and to be wherever she was needed, always with a smile and never a complaint.
The following year she began attending daily Mass at the Saint Joseph Carmelite Monastery in Korona where she spent many hours each day assisting with Mass requests, bookkeeping, document printing, immigration for new priests and major fund-raising projects.
Until her passing, she was completely dedicated to both St. Brendan’s and Saint Joseph Carmelite Monastery.
Above all, she was a true friend, sharing both her time and talents with anyone so blessed to know her. Her presence was a gift, and her memory will forever be cherished.
The family of Karen will receive friends for her viewing on Friday, October 16, 2026 from 4-8PM. Visitation will be held at the Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Rd, Flagler Beach, FL.
