Kenneth was born on January 12, 1952, to Norman F. Brogan Sr. He carried through life a sharp wit, a stubborn streak, and a sense of humor that rarely stayed within the boundaries of what most people would call appropriate. Kenneth had a gift for sarcasm and was especially fond of delivering dad jokes — often the irreverent and slightly inappropriate edition — usually at the exact moment they were least expected.
Though life brought its share of challenges, he faced them with honesty and, in later years, with a quiet humility that left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
In the years following the loss of his youngest daughter, April Brogan, in 2015, and after leaving alcohol behind, Kenneth became a gentler and more reflective man. Those who knew him in his later years remember his kindness, thoughtful conversations, and the sincere effort he made to live differently and more intentionally.
To his family, he was more than a father — he became a trusted friend and confidant.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his youngest daughter April Brogan; his father Norman F. Brogan Sr.; his brother Norman F. Brogan; and his sisters Susie Brogan and Nancy Brogan.
He leaves behind his oldest daughter, Rebecca Brogan, and his beloved wife, Sandra Jo Brogan, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage. He is also survived by his son, Brendan Hopkins-Brogan, whom he and Sandra lovingly welcomed into their family after the loss of their daughter.
Though imperfect, he was deeply loved. In the end, what mattered most was the love he gave, the forgiveness he found, and the peace he worked hard to make with himself and those around him.
He never went to bed without telling the people he loved how much they meant to him. Each night ended the same way:
“I love you. Always and forever, and forevermore.”
