Kevin Brion Stephens Jr. passed away on June 15th, 2020. He was born in Celebration, Florida on November 21, 2001. Kevin graduated from Fernandina Beach High School earning his high school diploma and was accepted to Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida. He would challenge anyone in a chess game and preached the value of computer coding. His work ethic was beyond his years and held a high standard of humble wealth. Kevin who also went by “KJ” had a wide variety of interests which included any and all things nature, conservation, and science. From the ozone, to coral reefs, Kevin was always interested in how he could improve our environment. He was a dedicated Boy Scout of Troop 281. He played many sports including football, hockey and track. He traveled from Canada to the Caribbean and many states in between. He loved music. Kevin recently taught himself how to play the piano and he played so beautifully and effortlessly. Along with his newly found love for the piano, also came a new passion for writing. He had begun to write stories of his own and expressed interest in majoring in journalism or business. The stock market was another interest of Kevin’s and he even had started investing some of his own money. Kevin always had the latest statistic on anything you can think of. He loved to do research and was always up to date when it came to statistics and loved to share them. Kevin is survived by his mother, Courtney Lane-Sola (Edwin), his father Kevin Stephens Sr. (Lindsay), sisters Kasey Stephens and Paxtyn Stephens, grandmother Irma Lane, grandfather Jesse Clayton, great-grandfather Albert Clayton, Aunt Robin (Ron), Uncle Roland (Debra), Aunt Lori, Aunt Kam, Uncle Kelvin, along with many cousins and friends. Kevin is proceeded in death by his grandmother Lillie Stephens, and grandfather Roland Lane Sr. Kevin will be remembered for his big beautiful smile and his kind, warm heart. To the Stephens/Lane family we are extending our deepest sympathy to you all during this difficult time. Our prayers and blessings are with you. We remember when Courtney was pregnant with little Kevin and watched him grow into a bubbly happy baby. Always smiling and excited to see us visit. We lost contact once we moved away but, thanks God for Facebook!! We were able to see how Kevin had grown into a handsome youngman with that same infectious smile he had as a baby. We are heart broken and want the family to know we love you all and we are here if you ever need us.

Kevin was a brilliant student in my English 4 College Prep class at Fernandina Beach High School. He was a shining star in my class and a natural leader. He always walked into my class with a beautiful smile and a confident air about him. He was a genuine unpretentious person whom I admired. He was an insightful and dedicated writer always setting high standards for his class. He was looked up to by his peers as a dedicated scholar.

Kevin expressed an interest in becoming a journalist and worked hard to polish his writings. I frequently read his works aloud to his class as examples of excellence. He also created unique art works and visuals to accompany his writings. He was always polite and cooperative in all of his dealings with students and teachers. He would light up the room when he entered and always wished me to have a great day when he left. What a pleasure to know and to teach this young man.

He will be a part of my life always and be in my heart forever. God bless his lovely family. Kevin, you touched my life forever. May you rest in eternal peace.
