Lalar "Bobbie" Augustine

Lalar "Bobbie" R. Augustine, age 90, passed away on November 23, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on March 12, 1934, in Scottsboro, Alabama, to the late James Crawford and Zellie Rebecca Ledford Rainey.

Lalar devoted over 19 years of her life to working as a mail carrier in Flagler Beach, where she became a cherished part of the community. After retiring, she found joy in her days spent riding in her golf cart with her beloved Schnauzer, Layla, by her side. She was the last surviving member of her generation, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and devotion to her family.

Lalar was preceded in death by her husbands: William Allen Couch, Donald Richard Gill, and Fritz Augustine; her brother, Herbert Jay Rainey; and her sisters, Joyce Lucille Rainey Baker, Claudie Lee Rainey Guthrie, Mandy Rachael Rainey Guthrie, Otha Grant Rainey Parrish, Nellie Mae Rainey, Gussie E. Rainey, Floria Melvina Rainey Bradley, Allison Rainey Couch, and her son-in-law, Alan Wybensinger.

She leaves behind a large, loving family, including her daughters: Kathy Ann (Donald) Havens, Brenda Couch Wybensinger, V. Marlene (Lee) Pennington, Liz Emrich, Kathy (Bill) Young, and Teresa (Edwin) Feliciano. Lalar was also the proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

In honor of her memory, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Alzheimer's Association. Lalar's kindness, strength, and love will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A visitation for Lalar will be held Friday, November 29, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Craig-Flagler Palms, 511 Old Kings Road South, Flagler Beach, FL 32136, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
