It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of our loving wife and mother, Laraine Ann Harrison, on December 19, 2024, at the age of 80 years old. While she managed the effect of a massive stroke 16 years ago like a warrior, she succumbed to the effects of an infection in her jaw.
Laraine is survived by her loving husband, Clifton Harrison of 56 years, daughter Carolyn Petersen, (John), son Scot Harrison, (Stephanie), Grandchildren Crystal Schultz, (Robert), Jacob Harrison (Morgan), Benjamin Harrison (Nicole), Mark Friess, Catherine Melvin (Brady) and Great Grandchildren, Robert Jr., Lacey, Hailee, Autumn, Harper, Kaidence and Cassidy, along with many cousins.
Preceded in death by her mother, Catherine Royal, and stepfather, Wayland Royal, as well as many aunts and an uncle.
Born on January 1, 1944, in Butler, PA, Catherine and Laraine relocated to Jacksonville, FL during her childhood. After having Carolyn, Laraine relocated to Atlanta, GA and took a job with Liberty Mutual. She then met Clifton at a mutual friend’s party and learned he also worked at Liberty Mutual. The two fell in love, married on June 14, 1968, and had a son together, Scot, in 1971. Laraine lived in many places as Clif was offered opportunities for relocation. Of their longest stay, they spent 24 years living in Stone Mountain, GA. She was involved with the Tennis Teams at the Hidden Hills Country Club and enjoyed everyone she met on and off the court. They joined the Atlanta Athletic Club where Laraine then took up golf so Clif and her could enjoy time on the course as well. She enjoyed exercising, dancing, cross stitch, reading, traveling, concerts and spending as much time as she could with family. Of the jobs she held, her most prized position was Administrative Manager for Reliance National alongside her husband. She formed lasting friendships with all who worked at Reliance.
Laraine, wife, mom and friend, was of a pure heart. She would help or do anything for her family and friends. She did not want any type of service as she wanted others to remember the memories they made and not mourn over her. We want to thank everyone who made an impact on her life whether through friendship, medical or associate. As Clif would say, “She was my best friend, wife and lover and I will miss her terribly. Until we meet again my love.”
Please leave sympathy comments, stories and pictures for the family to enjoy. We want to read of memories made with her. Thank you.
