A Jersey Girl at heart, Lori was born in Belleville, New Jersey, moved to Bogota, New Jersey, attended grammar schools there, and graduated from Bogota High School. After attending William Paterson University, she entered the work force. After her daughter was able to attend school, Lori worked for a number of years as a Purchasing Agent at Electro-Miniatures Corporation in Moonachie, New Jersey. She moved to Florida almost five years ago and once again held various part-time/full-time comparable positions.
Lori enjoyed rock and roll (especially Bruce, the Beatles, and The Who), going to and dancing at concerts, reading (favorite Stephen King), walking in Greenwich Village, dining out (primarily seafood and Italian venues), bingeing on her favorite T.V. programs, and watching college football (Go Gators!) and she was always eager to talk about any of these activities!!! She also had a loving, compassionate heart and cared about the less fortunate whether they were people or animals. She used to kid about being a “Cat Lady” because she wished she could have an entire menagerie of cats and not just her beloved two, Karl and Pyewacket. Her impact on other people may never be fully known, but as her dad, Jerry recently said, ”Not being able to hold and kiss my beautiful daughter Lori has broken my heart in so many pieces.”
Lori was preceded in death by her devoted mother Dorothy, younger brother Jerry Jr., and deeply missed cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and friends.
Memories of Lori will be cherished by her many survivors: daughter Katherine Kistner Florez and her husband Juan; Katie’s father Thomas Kistner, Lori’s partner of many years; father Gerald Gundry and wife Marilyn; brother Lance, his wife Susan and their three daughters, goddaughter Krista, Camryn, and Alyssa; numerous cousins, aunts and uncles, co-workers and friends scattered within the United States.
At this time, there are no future memorial plans. Anyone wishing to contribute a gift in Lori’s memory may donate to a charity of personal choice, although animal welfare organizations (Flagler Humane Society, ASPCA, Alley Cat Allies, for example) would be especially appropriate and appreciated.
