Louis Steven Vitale Jr. 70 of Palm Coast, FL, died February 14, 2022, from complications of aortic stenosis. He was the son of Louis S. Vitale, an executive in Teamsters Local 237 City Employees Union of NYC, and Evelyn Adele Vitale (Lane), homemaker and devoted mother. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Debra Diane Vitale, and his two loving and accomplished daughters: Jessica Anne Vitale, her significant other Nicholas Giordano, and their children Carmen Giordano and Caiden Giordano; and Christina Evelyn Vitale-Sosa and her loving husband, Jesse Sosa. Louis was born January 2, 1952, in Kew Gardens, Queens, a borough of New York City. He was raised in Valley Stream, NY, attending Elmont Memorial High School graduating in 1970 as Student Council President, National Honor Society member, and New York State Regent Scholar. He was a member of the Floral Park Masonic Lodge #1016 Of Free & Accepted Masons member. He attended SUNY at Stony Brook with a double major in biochemistry and medieval history. Knowing a BS/BA was worthless in the marketplace, he moved in 1975 to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he designed and constructed a geothermal greenhouse adjacent to a Fumarole Butte (Baker Hot Springs) in Juab County Utah. After completing the project, he attended the University of Florida, College of Engineering, in Gainesville, Florida, graduating with a B.S.E.E.in biomedical and electronics engineering. In 1979 he met his wife of 40 years, Debra Diane Vitale, BA, BSN, a Registered Nurse at Shands Teaching Hospital, in Gainesville, FL. He worked for Vital Industries in Gainesville, Florida, Mercury Middle East in the United Kingdom, NBC Television Network in Rockefeller Center, and Sperry Systems Management for the next ten years. Later they moved to Boca Raton, FL, founding Vitatech Engineering, Inc., where he designed and marketed the smallest electrocardiogram machine in the world at that time. The family moved to Northern Virginia in 1987, where he worked as a C3I Technical Director for Booz-Allen & Hamilton at the National Military Command Center (NMCC). In 1989 he re-established Vitatech Engineering, Inc. to provide C3I System Engineering Services to the federal government. In 1993 he added EMI/RFI testing and electromagnetic shield design/installation services expanding business opportunities to commercial, medical, and scientific research institutions throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. He was still working as the Chief Operating Officer, Senior Engineer, and Founder of Vitatech Electromagnetics LLC at his passing. Unlike many of his business competitors and several of his colleagues, he dedicated his career and business philosophy to technical excellence, utmost integrity, and uncompromising honesty and ethics. During his lifetime, he enjoyed playing piano, composing new age music, discussing politics until recently, making breakfast and fixing toys for his grandchildren, periodically smoking fine cigars, talking on the phone about life, and driving his BMW 7 Series. He will be laid to rest at Craig Flagler Palms Cemetery in Palm Coast, FL after a Methodist Church service held on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 11AM. Funeral Services will be held at the Flagler Beach United Methodist Church.
