

She was born Evelyn Louise Goldy on December 2, 1928, in Philadelphia, Pa. to William Goldy, Sr. and Evelyn (Bell) Goldy. Louise was raised and educated in East Lansdowne, Pa., and graduated from Lansdowne-Aldan high school.
On April 24, 1948 she married James W. Deckman, Jr., and had three children. They made their home in Upper Darby, Pa., and were married for 69 years before his passing in 2017. Louise was a stay-at-home Mom, and dedicated much of her life caring for 58 foster infants. She enjoyed hand quilting, cross-stitch and reading. Her lemon meringue pie and holiday coleslaw were “the best”!
When her children were grown, she was employed at Mine Safety Appliance Co. for 15 years. She and Jim retired to Palm Coast, Fl. in 1991. They were deeply committed to the Palm Coast United Methodist Church. Louise held many positions within the Church ministries.
Louise is survived by her two sons, James (Darlene) Deckman, David Deckman, and her daughter Janet (Curtis) Jensen, her sister-in-law, Jean Deckman, five grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a dear friend, Pam Latta.
She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Charlotte, and her brother, Bill.
A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2026 at 11 AM.
