Olga Jane Gillings, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2024, at the age of 77. She was born on January 6, 1947, in Bamboo, Saint Ann, Jamaica, to Philip Richards and Hilda Rumble..
Olga immigrated to the United States in the late 1960s, determined to build a better life not only for herself and her family, a journey that extended far beyond her immediate and extended family.. She settled in the Bronx, New York, where she served as a compassionate Certified Nurse Assistant for over 18 years. As an entrepreneur, she seized opportunities in every state she lived. In the late 1990s, Olga moved to Newport News, Virginia, where she continued her entrepreneurial pursuits, forged lasting connections, and eventually found her way to Palm Coast, Florida. There, she embraced the sunshine, indulged in her passion for gardening, and cherished moments with loved ones, leaving a profound impact on all she encountered.
Olga's greatest purpose was her family. She was a devoted mother to her children: Alston Gayle, Donna Gresham (Gillings), Louise Gillings, and Susan Walker (Gillings). Olga was predeceased by her husband, Edward Lloyd Gillings, and her son, Christopher Lloyd Gillings. She cherished her role as a grandmother, finding immense joy with her grandchildren: Danaizha A Walker, Chloe Walker, Lauren Walker, Sarah Gresham, Demetrius Gresham, Sasha Gresham, Kyle Gayle, Marlon Gayle, and Jordan Gayle. Olga Jane Gillings' impact extended far beyond her immediate family. She leaves behind countless nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and colleagues, all of whom were touched by her kindness and selflessness.
Although she may no longer walk among us, Olga's spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. Her feisty spirit, unwavering determination, and boundless love for life will be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
