Patty Lynn was born in Manhattan, New York on October 10, 1953. After graduating magna cum laude from SUNY Stony Brook with a degree in English, she spent more than 25 years educating countless students across New York, the Carolinas and Florida. As one might expect from an English teacher, Pat was a voracious reader and never left home without at least one book. She enjoyed travelling immensely, studying at Oxford University in England and visiting numerous countries during her life. Pat was also an avid sports fan and could always be found ardently cheering for her Florida Gators football, NY Yankees baseball and the Carolina Tar Heels basketball teams. Above all, Pat will be remembered as a loving and deeply devoted wife, mother, family member and friend; she will be profoundly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Michael Francis and Ellen Teresa Killeen; her brother Patrick “Packy”; her sister, Kerry Ellen and grandson, Padraic Greyson.
Survived by her husband of forty-three years, Bruce Edward Ramirez, her daughters Stacey Leigh Ramirez of London, UK and Christy Erin Ramirez (Greg Ray) of Chattanooga TN, her siblings, Michael (Leila) Killeen and Carol (Dan) Johnson along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A private family mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Palm Coast, Florida. A Celebration of life and burial at Calvary Cemetery in Queens, NY will take place at a later date.
The family ask that friends honor Pat by sharing a meal with their loved ones or toasting to her memory (she would recommend a Guinness served at room temperature). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to ProLiteracy at proliteracy.org or by supporting your local library.
