Born on March 16, 1955, in Jersey City, New Jersey, Paul was the son of the late David and Lillian Hulse. He grew up in a large family with seven siblings and carried a lifelong devotion to caring for others.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Paul later raised his two children, Paul James and Melanie, with love, faith, and resilience. He lived for many years at the Jersey Shore before retiring to Palm Coast, Florida, where he devoted himself fully to his faith, his family, and his community. A faithful Christian, Paul prayed before every meal, served as both a maintenance man and elder at Hammock Community Church, and was known as “Mr. Fix It” to family, friends, and neighbors alike.
Paul had a passion for classic cars, antiques, and collectibles, but above all, he loved his family. He was dependable, determined, and always present. He also had a love for music and was never shy about grabbing a mic for the oldies. His greatest joy was being a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and he stood by his loved ones in every season of life.
Paul was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Melanie Hulse, his sister, Claire Hulse, his parents, and many friends and relatives he missed dearly and is now reunited with in heaven.
He is survived by his son, Paul James Hulse, and his wife Nadine; grandchildren Theresa, Matthew, Paul James Jr., Kaylee, Dylan, Logan, and Magnus; great-grandchild Emilia; siblings David, Susan, Kathleen, Phillip, Lillian, and Alice; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended relatives, friends, and his cherished church family. He is also remembered by Cheryl, with whom he shared many years of life and family.
Paul’s legacy is one of faith, love, and presence. He will be remembered as a man of strong character who loved deeply, served faithfully, and was always there when you needed him.
Donations in Paul’s memory may be made to Just Believe, the organization founded by his son, Paul, or to The Salvation Army.
