Richard (Rick) Knox (73), passed away peacefully at his home in Palm Coast, Florida with his wife by his side on Thursday May 1, 2025 following an extended illness. Originally from Binghamton, New York, he was a graduate of Chenango Valley High School, a lifelong Golf Professional, consummate golfer and avid fisherman. Rick dedicated his professional career to developing a systematic approach to guide his students to their best inner golfer. From his constantly evolving instruction manuals and use of high tech video and swing analysis, Rick was on a mission to improve any golfer’s ability – with a dash of humor and fun.
Rick is survived by his wife Andrea (Dionne) Knox, daughter Haley (Knox) Lux and Husband Brian, son Kevin Knox, mother Laura Knox, sister Judy (Knox) Little, brothers Rob Knox and wife Annette, and Ron Knox and wife Susan, granddaughter Cadence Lux, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father Philip Knox and sister Pam (Knox) Brown.
A beloved husband, father, son, brother, friend and coach, Rick will be remembered for his tremendous spirit, keen intellect, curious nature, and sense of humor. Rick shared his passion for both golf and fishing with his wife Andrea. Married 42 years, the two enjoyed countless adventures together.
A celebration of life is planned on the banks of the Chenango River with remembrances of Rick’s life including a fish release in his honor. To commemorate Rick, please introduce a young person to the game of golf or take them fishing.
