Born on Valentine’s Day, 1953, in Sussex, New Jersey, Robert was the son of Douglas and Peggy Ann Heffner Rush. After graduating high school, he proudly served in the Army National Guard for two years before making Florida his home—first in the Daytona Beach area and eventually in Flagler County.
A man of strong work ethic and dedication, Robert spent many years as a truck driver before retiring from S.E. Cline Construction after 29 years of service. Even in retirement, he could never sit still—he enjoyed fishing along Florida’s waterways, capturing the beauty of sunrises and sunsets through his photography, and tending to his garden with a remarkable green thumb. If it could be grown, Bob could grow it.
Family was the heart of Robert’s life. He leaves behind his two sons, Bobby (Ashlee) Rush of Seville and Eric (Kayla) Rush of Bunnell, and his greatest joys—his grandchildren, Harper, Kadlee, and Easton Rush, who lovingly knew him as “Pop-pop.” He is also survived by his siblings Rick, Cindy, Pete, Bill, Tom, and Margaret, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sue Ann Rush.
His legacy is one of hard work, love, and a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. Whether on the water with a fishing rod, behind a camera capturing the sky’s beauty, or in the garden coaxing life from the soil, Robert lived each day with quiet joy. He cherished his visits to the Southern Table, where he was treated like family at every meal, and made frequent stops at the County Cooler for his favorite convenience items. On occasion, he happily took the wheel as a school bus party driver, bringing family and friends to their destinations with the same care and good humor that defined his life.
Arrangements are in the care of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home.
A celebration of Life for Bob will be held on Sunday August 17th at the home of Eric Rush from 2-4pm. Come as you are, stay as long as you like, and share your favorite memories.
