Ruth Hart, 97, of Palm Coast died on August 16, 2018 at Sabal Palms Senior Living Facility. She was born September 1, 1920 on her family cattle ranch near Belfield, North Dakota, the daughter of Henry Hans Paasch and Karen Amanda (Martinson) Paasch.
On March 22, 1940 in Moorhead, Minnesota she married Thomas Floyd Hart. They shared their lives together for 60 years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister Ione Paasch, her brothers Ray Paasch and Robert Paasch, and a daughter-in-law Jeannette Hart.
Ruth graduated from Jamestown (ND) College in 1940 and devoted herself to her husband’s career, raising her family of four boys, and actively participating in her community. She was head of volunteers at White Plains (NY) Hospital, volunteered at White Plains Public Library. She was also active in the PTA and Hospice of Westchester and Hospice of Volusia-Flagler. She was honored to participate in the National Executive Service Corps. She was a member of the Palm Coast Yacht Club and several golf and country clubs as well as the Church in the Highlands in White Plains and Trinity Presbyterian Church in Palm Coast.
She is survived by four sons: Henry and his wife MaryBeth of Cedarburg, WI, Richard and his wife Elizabeth of Bow, NH, William of Tantallon, Nova Scotia, and Douglas and his wife Rae of Pine Plains, NY. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren: Alison Hart of Denver, CO, Daniel Hart of Cedarburg, WI, Matthew Hart (Rachel)of Oak Park, IL, Caroline Winters (Brian) of Wheeling, IL, Brian Hart of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Tom Hart (Regina) of Northampton, MA, Alan Hart (Kelsey) of Watkinsville, GA, David Hart (Jemina) of Mandeville, LA, Janice Teixeira (Julio) of Scarsdale, NY, Sandy McKenna (John) of Redding, CT, Mark Michael (Nancy)of Slate Hill, NY, and Matthew Michael (Ellen) of Stanfordville, NY. In addition she is survived by seventeen great-grandchildren.
A memorial service in her honor will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 156 Florida Park Dr., Palm Coast, FL on Saturday, September 1st at 3 PM followed by a visitation with family and friends in the church assembly room. In lieu of flowers donations would be welcomed to Trinity Presbyterian Church of Palm Coast or Hospice of Volusia-Flagler. The family wishes to thank the staff of Sabal Palms Senior Living for their wonderful and compassionate care of Ruth, and the VITAS Hospice for their aid in her final days. Ruth was especially grateful for help, love, and support of her many dear friends in the Palm Coast area.
