Coast, FL. She was 85. Mrs. Kehoe was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Joseph C.
Kehoe, DDS, MS, Captain USN (Retired) in 2012.
Born in Flint, MI to Jewel E Presson and Margaret Roselee Presson (St John), Mrs Kehoe
was raised in Detroit after the second world war and attended St Mary's of Redford High
School.
Following graduation from the University of Detroit (Mercy) in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science
degree in Commerce and Finance, Mrs Kehoe worked as a fashions buyer at J.L. Hudson's
flagship department store in downtown Detroit.
Upon marriage to Dr. Kehoe in 1963 and his subsequent graduation from the University of
Detroit (Mercy) School of Dentistry in 1965, the Kehoes embarked on their great adventure
courtesy of the U.S. Navy. From Alaska to Spain, they navigated through seven duty stations
over the next 17 years.
Duty in Spain not only afforded Mrs. Kehoe and her family the chance to traverse western
Europe every summer in their 1972 VW Westphalia camper, it offered her the opportunity to
earn a Master of Science degree in Education from the University of Southern California in
1978.
Transitioning to civilian life in 1982 after a tour with the U.S. Marines at Parris Island, SC, the
Kehoes landed in Gainesville at the University of Florida College of Dentistry. Go Gators!
While Dr Kehoe pursued a career as a dental educator and administrator at UF, Mrs Kehoe
was tasked with the toughest challenge of all, managing the escapades of three energetic
teenagers. None the less, she found time to design and make highly sought handmade
woman's apparel under the label “One and Only.”
Fourteen years later, while many of their friends and colleagues were contemplating
retirement, Joe and Sharon bid Gainesville and the university farewell and relocated to
coastal Maine where they worked together in private practice.
Mrs. Kehoe often said of the dental practice that “Joe treated the patients and I did everything
else.” The Kehoes finally retired to their home in Palm Coast, FL in 2005.
Mrs. Kehoe was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her
children, Kevin L Kehoe, Sara B Mallard (Kehoe) and Matthew C Kehoe as well as her
grandchildren Shannon L Mallard and Hailey M Mallard.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Kehoe's name can be made to Maryknoll Sisters of St
Dominic, Inc; PO Box 317, Maryknoll, NY 10545-0317; 914-941-7575;
A funeral mass will be held at 11am on Saturday, June 29 at Santa Maria del Mar Catholic
