Stephen Joseph Demetri

Stephen J. Demetri, 77, of Palm Coast, passed away suddenly on 4/29/2021. Steve was born on November 29, 1943 to Nofie and Sadie (Barbagallo) Demetri in Gloucester, MA. After graduating from Gloucester High School, he enlisted in the US Navy where he served for four years. Upon his honorable discharge, he went on to study Civil Engineering at the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology in Boston, Mass. After college graduation, he married Christine Wilber in 1971 and moved to Fairfield, Connecticut where they made their family home. Steve was employed as the Superintendent of Wastewater Treatment for the Town of Greenwich, Connecticut until he retired. Steve was a devoted father, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his three grandsons. Steve enjoyed retirement and lived for a short time in Naples, Florida. He and his wife, Christine, moved to Palm Coast in 2012 to be closer to their daughter’s family. Anyone who knew Steve knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. Steve was predeceased by his parents Nofie and Sadie (Barbagallo) Demetri and his sister Linda Pelletier. He is survived by his wife of nearly fifty years, Christine Demetri, his daughter Beth (Humberto) Alves, son Stephen Demetri, and his three grandsons Dylan, Michael, and Brandon Alves. siblings Kathy Quinn, Sandra Demetri, and Betty Betz. There will be a private mass for immediate family.
