Steve graduated from Southwest Miami High School in 1966 and from Auburn University in 1970 with the degree Bachelor of Aviation Management. In 2014, Steve retired from the Canadian Tourism Commission where he was based in Atlanta, Georgia as Director, MC&IT Sales Development. He was a lifetime member of the Georgia and the North Florida Chapters of MPI Association, the SKAL Club in Atlanta, and SITE-Southeast Chapter, which are all tourism-based associations. Steve was also a member of Auburn University Alumni Association and Grand Haven Golf Club. In 2016, he and his beloved wife, Annette, moved to the Palm Coast Area where he was able to enjoy playing golf, riding his red bicycle with mag wheels, going to the beach and starting his day by visiting Dunkin’ Donuts or Friends Café where he was known to share a good story and lots of laughter. Steve will always be remembered as “Mr. Wonderful” armed with a big smile and a warm friendly greeting. He was preceded in death by his parents, his bother Thomas J. Sheffield in 2008, and his grandparents, Steve and Ginny Sakezles. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Annette, sisters-in-law, Evelyn Smith-Terry of Bradenton, FL, Bobbi and her husband, Chuck Brooks of Barnesville, GA, and many loving nieces, nephews, relatives, good friends and last but not least, his “Second Favorite Girl”, their chocolate lab, Coco Chanel #7. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to Grace Community Food Pantry of Flagler County, or Flagler Humane Society, or the Wounded Warrior Project. A celebration of Steve’s life will be scheduled at a future date.
