Virginia "Ginny" Colucci,89, was surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren when the Lord beckoned her home on August. 16, 2018. She was born July 7, 1929 to Antonio DiPrinzio and Angela Maria DiMartino. Ginny was one of 6 children who were raised in the beautiful town of Valhalla, New York. As a little girl, she fancied herself a teacher and would set up a schoolroom in her father's grape arbor, tacking all her "students' " work sheets on the wooden slats and vines. Before she could realize her dream, she fell in love with a man in uniform, a WW II pilot. Soon after, Ginny and Patrick were married and together raised 8 children. Ginny was a very bubbly individual her whole life, always relying on her own resources to turn anything dull into dazzling and exciting. In fact, she and her husband of 52 years were renowned for hosting countless memorable family get-togethers in their East Irvington home.
While Pat worked 2 and 3 jobs to support his large family, Ginny was a homemaker, devoting her time to her children's schools during fundraisers and social events. In addition, they both were very involved in Catholic Charities. Eventually, Ginny and her husband owned and operated T.C. Associates in their hometown. for 10 plus years. When they were not working, Ginny and Pat enjoyed going out on the town. After raising their last child, it was time for a bigger adventure, and the two went cross country in a van, merrily singing "On the Road Again" with Willie Nelson. The travelers often stopped along the way to take in our wonderful country and to meet interesting people from all walks of life. . Ginny also loved flying to different states and to Europe to accompany Pat on his Air Force Reunions. The most memorable one was when Ginny had dinner and shook hands with Jimmy Stewart, the actor who fought in the same company as her husband. When Ginny was not traveling, she spent countless hours with her grandchildren, her heart and her joy. She was always available to babysit, give advice, or lend a shoulder to cry on. Ginny was the epitome of unconditional love, whether it concerned her children or her grandchildren. After Pat's passing, Ginny became a snowbird and eventually settled in Florida. Full of energy and sporting a warm smile, Ginny made friends wherever she went. She spoke highly of her wonderful neighbors in her community and also took pleasure in helping her close friend Pat at her church's food pantry. Even when she was feeling the effects of her illness, feeling poorly, Ginny was driven by her spunkiness. Determined to help the poor, she often dragged herself into the pantry. In her leisure time, Ginny relished going out and about with her gentleman friend, Joe. She also made several trips to be with family in New York and to visit her sister on Florida's west coast. Ginny will always be remembered for her good Italian cooking, her love of gardening , and her zest for life. Survivors include her children, Patrick {Maria} Colucci, Phyllis {Richard} Venuti, Susan Colucci, Thomas Colucci, Peter Colucci, Cindy {John} Gayle, Steven {Maria} Colucci, David Colucci; grandchildren Patrick, Jason, Valerie, Victoria, Tara, Jessica, Melissa; and her great-grandchildren Brandon and Jayden.
