Virginia M. Rego, 76 of Palm Coast, passed away peacefully January 1, 2026 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born August 31, 1949 in Azores, Portugal, loving daughter of Antonio Moura Resendes and Maria Eugenia Freitas.
Virginia was a woman of quiet strength, deep love, and unwavering devotion to her family. She enjoyed working on puzzles, crocheting, playing games on her phone, and enjoyed cruising the Caribbean with her family. She lived her life with grace, kindness, and a selflessness that touched everyone who was fortunate enough to know her. Her greatest joy was her family. She loved fiercely, gave endlessly, and always put the needs of others before her own. Her presence brought comfort, her words brought reassurance, and her love created a sense of home wherever she was. She had a way of making people feel seen, heard, and cared for, often without needing to say a word.
She will be remembered for her warm heart, her gentle spirit, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. She taught those around her the true meaning of compassion, resilience, and family. Her lessons live on in the lives she shaped and the love she leaves behind. She leaves her son, Jason (Cristina) Rego of Palm Coast, a daughter Jenny (Fiancé Ed Coyle) Rego of Palm Coast. Three grandchildren, Dominic Rego, Robert Varone and Adrianne Varone. She was very instrumental in raising Caleb and Preston Johnston, who looked upon her as a grandmother. Virginia also leaves three sisters, Fatima Silva, Zelia (Dinis) Sousa and Conceicao (Antonio) Andrade. Along with a host of nieces and nephews
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by loving husband of 40 years, Joseph Rego.
Though our hearts are heavy with her passing, we find comfort in knowing that her love never leaves us. It lives on in our memories, our traditions, and in every moment we carry her forward with us.
Virginia Rego will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
Family and friends will be received Wednesday, January 7, 2026 from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home. Services will follow at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place at Flagler Memorial Gardens.
