

William was born on October 26, 1945, to parents Eve Copeland and John Linton Daley in the District of Coleyville, Parish of Manchester, Jamaica, West Indies. William attended Bryce All Age School and was awarded a Scholarship to Monroe College in Kingston, Jamaica but his father opted instead to enroll him in Cornwall College, for one year and then he moved on to Holmwood Technical High School where he excelled in the study of Physics, Building and Engineering Mathematics and Geometrical Drawing. He was also a member of the school’s Track and Field team. He graduated from Holmwood Technical High School in July 1965. William made lifelong friends who remembered him for his tenacity, strength and a love for sports, especially Track and Field. His peers will commemorate his friendship, competitiveness, infectious laughter and his wit.
A Life of Accomplishments
William’s career began when he was employed by the Alcan Bauxite Company as a Payroll Clerk. His dedication and talent quickly earned him recognition and advancement to another position within Alcan working as a millwright. After being employed to Alcan for several years, he resigned and started his own, small trucking business in Coleyville, Manchester, Jamaica.
Personal Milestones
In 1971, William me the love of his life, Veleta Agatha Dwyer, (a Seventh-day Adventist Christian). They were later married in the town of Spalding, Manchester, They resided in Pike, Manchester where together they built a loving, Prayerful home filled with joy and warmth. William migrated to the USA with his family of five; three children, his wife and himself. Later years, while living in the USA, he was blessed with two more children. In the summer of 1980 William and his wife, Veleta, attended a crusade in Wyndanch, NY. Willam answered the call to follow Jesus all the way, was later baptized and accepted into fellowship a the Bethesda SDA Church in Amityville, New York. As a member of the Bethesda SDA Church, he served as Deacon, Sabbath School Teacher and Superintendent, Bible Study director, and choir member. He also participated in the SDA Long Island Federation Track and Field activities with the young people. William and Veleta celebrated 28 years of marriage. Veleta, preceded him in death March of 2000.
William Alexander Daley’s Second Chance
In June of 2000, William introduced himself to Heather Dawn Williams, a new member of the Bethesda Seventh Day Adventist Church in Amityville, Long Island, New York. He persistently pursued and captured her attention; while never giving up, he proposed to Heather in August of 2000, and she accepted. William and Heather were married in November 2001. They both resided in New York for two years before he decided to retire from his employment due to illness. William and Heather moved to Palm Coast, Florida in July of 2003. They made the Palm Coast Seventh Day Adventist Church their place of worship and became very active in church ministries. As a result of William’s several illnesses, he was unable to attend church to fellowship with the sisters and brothers in Christ. He was cared for at home by Cora Walker, and later by Jennifer Ewart and his wife, Heather until his passing on April 18, 2025. William said goodbye to Heather after 23 years and 5 months together serving the Lord, family and each other.
Remembering William Alexander Daley
As we reflect on William’s life, we remember the countless moments of joy, laughter, and love he provided to his many friends at the Domino table on Saturday nights in his home as well as homes of friends. His legacy is one of resilience, kindness, and unwavering dedication to making the world a better place. William made friends with the friendless and was consistently willing to lift the downtrodden. He was never afraid to meet with anyone in whatever situation they found themselves.
Final Thoughts
Though William is no longer with us, memories will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved and knew him. We find comfort in knowing that William knew the Lord, worked in his vineyard for several years and is sleeping Jesus Christ as he awaits his Master’s call. We hope to carry forward his legacy of kindness, love, and compassion. William leaves behind to cherish his memory, his faithful wife, Heather and step-sons Devereux (Naomi, Caylie and Devin) and Andrew, his children: Andrew (Karen), Gregory, Fitzroy, Stacy (his princess), and William Daley Jr.; his grandchildren; Gregory Jr., Chyna, Rhiana and Cecilia; brothers, sisters, nieces, daughter-in-law, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, great friends Jacqueline and Robert Freeman and family, Leon and Agnes Romeo, the Wright’s and Nicholas’ families, Church families and his faithful Domino partners.
