Elizabeth’s husband…our Daddy…grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother, son, friend. Nelson Odom was a man of great honor and principals. His strength, determination and cheeky grin will be remembered until the end of time. To his wife of 65 years Nelson was the love of her life as she was his, her superman, always standing by her, supporting her, encouraging her, challenging her. To his daughters, he was the 12-foot-tall hero, even though he never topped 5’9” in physical form. A man who wholeheartedly and courageously embraced being the father of four girls, holding tight to the reins of protection for us all. A life-long Texan and proud of it to the end. Nelson loved being an entrepreneur, whether it was expanding the chain of family owned fried chicken restaurants, buying and selling oilfield pipe or, stalwartly taking on his duties of building and trouble-shooting computers in their shop in Port Lavaca, Texas (though many times he would just as soon dropkick a PC right out the back door). Born in Corsicana, Texas on November 4, 1933, Nelson passed away quietly on March 29, 2021, surrounded by family with his sweetheart by his side. And that was Nelson…”I’ll just quietly sit over here and enjoy my family, and see you later.”
Nelson is survived by his wife Elizabeth, daughters Teri Thackston (Hal), Jana Semler (Ed), Traci Odom and Jeri Green (Stephan), grandchildren, Chad, Katherine, Sean, Alexis and Emily, great-grandchildren, Josef, Jagger, Savannah and Anastasia, sisters Wanda McLaughlin and Debbie Pittman and brother Steve Odom. Rest in peace Sweet One, we will miss you greatly.
At Nelson's request, there will be no funeral service.
