William “Bill” Arthur Benscoter, 62, went home to be with the Lord on February 10, 2025. Bill was born March 27, 1962, in Pontiac, MI, to Larry and Judy (Kolar) Benscoter and grew up in Waterford, MI. As a child, he achieved the rank of Life Scout, developing the work ethic, adventurous spirit, and sharp mind that defined his life.
A skilled Master Plumber, Bill began his career in plumbing even before graduating from Kettering High School in 1980. His talent and dedication led him to run his own plumbing company before joining UA Local 98. Over the years, he mentored numerous apprentice plumbers, guiding them with patience and wisdom, ensuring his knowledge and craftsmanship were passed on to future generations.
Bill was a lifelong learner, with an extensive book collection that reflected his curiosity and drive. He was always up for a challenge—whether it was hitting the gym after work, studying Taekwondo, lacing up his skates for what he called “old man hockey,” skydiving, or taking the ultimate plunge deep-sea diving. He never shied away from trying something new and lived life with an enthusiasm that inspired those around him.
Bill was a member of Flushing Community Church, where he found fellowship and faith among friends. He deeply valued the sense of community and support the church provided.
Bill’s strength, intelligence, and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten. He leaves behind family, friends, and those he mentored, all of whom are better for having known him.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Elisa Benscoter; his son, Shawn Benscoter, Shawn’s mother, Shari Baran; Shawn’s wife, Rachel Benscoter; his cherished grandson, Zhu Benscoter; his four bonus sons, Alex Krick, Ben Krick, Aaron Krick, and Tay Krick; his mother, Judy Benscoter; and his brother, Brian Benscoter. Bill was preceded in death by his father, Larry Benscoter, and his brother, Bruce Benscoter.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association in honor of his passion for learning, mentorship, and adventure.
A visitation for Bill will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Reigle Funeral Home - 5501 W. Pierson Road, Flushing MI. A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior at Reigle Funeral Home.
