Born in Bad Axe, Michigan, Esther moved to Flint, Michigan, as a young woman in search of opportunity and adventure. She dedicated over 30 years of her life to General Motors, where she worked with pride and made lifelong friendships.
She made Flint her home for 50 years before moving to Flushing, where she continued to live life to the fullest. Known for her boundless energy, Esther was rarely found sitting still. She danced whenever she could, loved a good hunting trip, and never turned down a game night—whether it was cards, board games, or both. She found great joy in gardening, tending to her flowers and plants with the same care and enthusiasm she showed to everyone around her. Shopping was another of her favorite pastimes, and she was always on the move.
She had a remarkable ability to make friends wherever she went. Her door was always open, and her kitchen was never closed. Feeding people was her love language, and if you visited her, you could expect a warm meal and a task to help with — because staying busy was her way of life.
Independent, outgoing, and full of life, Esther left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her. She will be remembered for her infectious spirit, generous heart, and the joyful energy she brought into every room.
She is survived by Judy (John) Yokom (née Sanborn); grandchildren: Corey Yokom, Shay Yokom, Brianna Yokom; great granddaughter, Riley. Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Gary; parents, Henry and Bertha Rifenbark; 8 brothers and sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 from 12:00pm - 6:00pm. Funeral service will immediately follow beginning at 6:00pm with Rosary Prayer Service, at Reigle Funeral Home – 5501 W. Pierson Road, Flushing, Michigan. In honor of her memory, the family invites friends and loved ones to share stories, laughter, and maybe even a dance in her name.
