

George was born on May 18, 1962 in Flint, MI to Hilda (Diener) & George R. Johnston. George was a graduate of Hamady High School, class of 1980. George was a talented hockey player during high school. George was an employee of Michigan Dairy, LLC in Livonia, MI. In his free time, George loved spending time outdoors, and had a passion for hunting and fishing. George especially enjoyed spending time up north. George enjoyed racing cars in his early years and watching Nascar in his later years. He was a handyman and took pride in his tools. One way to his heart was a home cooked meal or homemade cookies. He was well-liked and full of charisma. He was a proud Father and a Grandpa.
George is survived by his children Heather (William V) Burns & grandson William VI “Henry” of Hickory Corners, MI; children Rachel & Jeremy and their mother Susan Johnston of Garden City, MI; his sister Julie (Bruce) King, nephew Jacob, and nieces Miriam and Leah of Prescott, WI; Aunt Katie of Eagle River, Alaska, Aunt Lydia (Sam) of Clio, MI, Aunt Loretta Probin of Grayling, Aunt Shirley Johnston of Grayling, and several cousins. George was very close to many of his cousins.
George is preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles.
To celebrate George’s life, a Memorial service will be held at the Reigle Funeral Home in Flushing, MI on Saturday January 23, 2016, beginning at 11am, with brother in-law, Reverend Bruce King, officiating. Family and friends are welcome for visitation prior to the service beginning at 9am. Interment next to his parents will take place immediately following the memorial service at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Flint, MI.
