SPADER, John M. – Age 78, of Flushing, went to be with his Lord, Monday, January 23, 2012 at his home. Mr. Spader was born February 18, 1933 in Detroit the son of Oscar and Ellen (Cochell) Spader. John was a member of St. Robert Catholic Church. He served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of V.F.W. Post 5666 and the American Legion Post 278. John worked for Hamadys Grocery Store for 33 years and was a member of the Flushing Fire Department for 17 years and was named Fireman of the Year in 1975. John also helped rewrite the Flushing City Charter. On June 9, 1956 John married Patricia Ballge and she survives him. Also surviving are children, David Spader of Spring Lake, MI and Debra (Craig) Schaaf; grandchildren, Megan Spader, Aaron and Casey Schaaf, and Kyle Lawrey. Mr. Spader was preceded in death by his daughters, Lori Lawrey and Karen Spader. A Memorial Service 11 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2012 at Reigle Funeral Home. Father Roy Horning will officiate.
