ISLER, Rudolf A. age 88, went to be with the love of his life, Dorli, on Monday, May 7, 2018 at Living Joy Assisted Living. Rudy was born May 31, 1929 in Waeoenswil, Switzerland to parents August and Maria Isler where he spent his youth. He drove a tanker truck in the Swiss Army and later learned the tool and die trade before leaving Switzerland for Canada, and a year later his soon to be wife joined him. They had two sons, Mark and Thomas, while in Canada before moving to the United States. He and his family became U.S. citizens in 1966. Rudy worked his trade at GM Metal Fab and retired in 1995. Rudy was very particular about everything he did and was always learning. He was the go to guy for many before they made final decisions as he read up on many subjects. Surviving are children, Mark (Lisa) of North Carolina and Thomas (Lisa) of Grand Rapids, Michigan; five grandchildren. Rudy will be missed by his church family and his many friends. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make a donation to the Flushing Senior Center, 106 Elm St., Flushing, MI 48433, in his memory. The family is planning a gathering to celebrate Rudy’s life at a later date.

I was given the honor to care for Rudy and his beloved wife Dorothy, at their home, for a few short months early this year. Although short, Both gave me more than I'm certain I ever gave them! They were both beautiful people. I'm only saddened that I didn't know them longer. Rudy was a one of a kind. Very smart with a unique personality and a deep love for his wife. Rudy will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart and will ALWAYS be remembered by me. Praying for comfort for family and friends at this time.
