NICHOLS, Vera Evelyn - Age 96, went to be with her Lord on October 2, 2020. There will be a family graveside service at Sunset Hills Cemetery with Pastor Jack Dowden officiating and a well-deserved celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church or the Salvation Army.

Vera was born on July 17, 1924 in Flint, MI and was a graduate of Flint Central High School. She worked at AC Spark Plug until her retirement. Vera was a faithful member of Asbury Methodist Church for over 70 years, and recently of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where she was welcomed with open hearts. Vera enjoyed church activities, knitting, making Cornish baked goods and she loved children.

Vera is survived by her niece, Julie (Nichols) Sears and husband Kent; two great-nieces, Kelly and Jenna Nichols and their mother, Beth; sister-in-law, Joyce Nichols; very special friend, Ed Nicholls and his family; as well as many, many friends who loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Evelyn Nichols; brother, John; and nephew, Joel.

The family would like to thank Fostrian Court of Flushing for the outstanding care they have given Vera over the past several months.

Dear Julie & Family,

This is such an earthly loss but we know where Vera is now. She came every Monday night to our home to visit. She always loved lemon pie.

Of late, she told us of her love for her baptist church family & since being at Fostrian how her pastor was faithful to visit at the window.

She loved her family dearly and we were privileged to call her friend.

Love in Christ,
Gloria, Glady & Joyce Ann

Vera touched my heart in ways I cannot explain. She helped me with many life lessons including; friendship, kindness, gratitude, unconditional love and finding appreciation in what many take for granted. She was always good for a laugh and had a wit like no one I have met. Her smile warmed my soul! She was a true blessing and someone I will always remember. May the memories she left behind be treasures we all cherish. Thank you for sharing her with us! Shine on my friend!

Vera used to shop at the VG's in Davison. She had a great sense of humor and would brighten my day when I would see her. I have missed her and am sad to hear of her passing. May she rest in peace.
