

NICHOL, Vernon L. – Age 91, of Saginaw and Zephyr Hills, Florida, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family. Mr. Nichol was born February 28, 1919 in Sandusky, MI the son of Lee and Bessie (Sample) Nichol. Vernon served his country during W.W.II in Europe with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer. When he was younger Vernon was a very good bowler. Vernon was a pilot, loved to travel and had an extensive library. He was a builder and retired from HUD where he was a building inspector. On October 7, 2008 Vernon married Joyce Petrie and she survives him. Also surviving are his daughter, Marilyn Reibel, step-children, John (Cindy) Petri, Dawn (Graham) Hamilton, Todd Petrie, grandchildren, Nichols (Lisa) Yetsko, Crystal (David) Meyer, step-grandchildren, Addie, Amelia, Aubrey, Ava, great grandchildren, Ian Meaghan, Aiden, Joshua, brothers, Burt (Judy) Nichol, Jim (Mary) Nichol, sisters, Arlene Reich, Pat Bracken, many nieces and nephews. A Service of Remembrance will be held 11 a.m. Friday, October 15, 2010 at Community Christian Reformed Church, 6045 Mackinaw Rd., Saginaw, MI 48604. Pastor Nathan Gritter will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to V.N.A. Covenant Hospice.
