William worked 30 years in the machining industry, learning every job in the shop from CNC machine operator to engineering and computer aided design.
He was never happier than when he had a guitar in his hands. Since 2008, he shared his love of music with friends, and children and young adults with profound disabilities as a volunteer at Genesee Intermediate School District’s Marion D. Crouse Instructional Center in Flushing. He brought joy to many students by performing for special events and the annual completion ceremony. He also wrote songs and appeared prominently on a collection the was written specifically for the school in 2010. He was loved by many staff and students at the school.
He was creative, soulful, introverted and a self-taught, lifelong learner. He lived his life on his own terms and was singularly devoted to his wife of 14 years, Carolyn Vierkorn. They shared many musical and life adventures. She will forever cherish his memory. Also surviving are his two children Justin Billington and Jamie Billington and three grandchildren.
A celebration of William’s life will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.ReigleFuneralHome.com for the Billington family.
