Allan LaFata

Allan Joseph Lafata, a resident of Fort Myers, Florida peacefully passed away on March 6, 2024, at Vitas Hospice Care in Bonita Springs, Florida. Allan was born on August 5, 1933, in Bronx, New York and enjoyed 90 wonderful years of life. He was a Navy veteran serving on active duty as a seaman between 1953 and 1954.

Allan was married to Barbara Casazza for 52 years and was the son of

Salvatore and Jeanne Lafata. Allan and Barbara were members of Saint Columbkille Catholic Church in Fort Myers for many years. He had a successful electric business in Queens, New York and was loved and appreciated by all his customers.

He had an enormous love for animals which led him to an avocation of raising and racing greyhounds and trotters. Allan invented a training device called Port-A-Lure and a Chase-A-Lure for the training and conditioning of greyhounds. After this he and Barbara retired to Florida inl 998 residing at Lexington Country Club.

Allan was predeceased by Barbara who passed away on March 21 , 2011. He is survived by his sister Joann Frucco and her husband John.

Allan had many nieces and nephews, Veronica Roda and her husband Carmen, Victor Casazza, Joseph Santarelli, Christopher Santarelli and his wife

Maureen, Melissa Paine, and her husband Luke,

Allan was also blessed with a host of grand nieces and nephews, Matthew and Samantha Schwartz, Joseph, Gianluca and Michael Santarelli, Lauren, Meghan and Christopher Santarelli, Adelena, Georgia, and Greta Paine who always loved listing to his jokes and stories.

Visiting hours 10am - 12pm for Allan will be held Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, New York 11358. A prayer service in the funeral home will occur Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 11:00 AM. The entombment will follow Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Woodlawn Cemetery, 517 East 233rd Street, Bronx, New York 10470.
