Mary Angela Salpeter (nee Ruane) was born in Geesala, County Mayo, Ireland in 1929 to James and Annie (Cosgrove) Ruane. The second of nine children, she left home at a young age to pursue her education and enter the nursing profession. Angela dedicated her career to helping others, receiving her RN in London where she worked for a few years before immigrating to the US.
Also dedicated to her family, Angela moved to New York with her sister and once established, assisted their parents and younger siblings to join them in New York. She married the love of her life, Irwin Salpeter, in January 1970 and they shared 20 loving years together before he was taken too soon.
Angela was always a strong support to her siblings and brothers- and sisters- in law. She was a devoted Aunt to her many nieces, nephews, and grand- nieces and nephews. She helped raise the next generations, offering guidance, support and an enduring love which all of her family will cherish for years to come.
