Anne was an intelligent, caring, and thoughtful person. Her most loved job through her years was working as a reading specialist in the reading lab at Highland Elementary School where she helped kids who were struggling to learn to read. She read the newspaper almost every morning, loved doing crosswords, and took pride in her extensive vocabulary. Her favorite game was scrabble and the only thing she ever asked for her birthdays was for someone to play a game of scrabble with her.
She was passionate about music and was a talented vocalist. Christmas was her favorite holiday because her large Neggie family would all get together to sing; their favorite song being “war is over”.
Anne loved to cook, watch old black and white films, and go thrift shopping. The ocean was her happy place and she made trips to the beach whenever she was able to.
She is survived by her parents Joe and Hannah Neggie, her brothers Joe, Timmy, Steve, and James, her sisters Mary, and Celia, and her sisters in law Maureen, Kathy, Joan, Sandra, and Grace, her daughter, Kelly, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews who loved her. She is predeceased by her brother Michael.
Anne struggled with addiction and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Walter Hoving Home (https://hovinghome.org/donate-now-button/) or Friends of Recovery New York (https://for-ny.org/donate/).
A memorial service for Anne will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, NY 11358.
