One of my favorite days with Annie, was a day spent with her sisters Mary and Celia, her niece Laura and Laura's son Nate.
     Laura was presenting a new makeup line she was involved in and she was demonstrating the proper techniques of applying all the different makeup (very professionally). As we were not familiar with a lot of the products, we were not the most advanced students, but we sure did have fun.
     The picture below is from that day. It's Annie and Mary with masks on - it looked like dirt and we laughed hysterically. We really got silly and had the best time that day. We all went home with a little makeup that we actually learned to apply. 

Dear Neggie Family,
I first want to wish the entire Neggie/ Reed family my sincere condolences; I hope you find peace and comfort through the memories of those who loved Annie.  She was one of my closest friends and when  by happenchance at the age of fourteen, I met Annie in our neighborhood of Flushing, Queens, I knew I had met someone special.  As a young, impressionable  girl -who wanted very badly to fit in with the rest of her peers: (I was tall, skinny, and had an unpronounceable last name), Annie made me feel it was o.k. to be different; that I didn't have to fit the mold of everyone else.  She was beholden to no one and that I think,  was one of her eminent qualities and also brought her pain. I loved spending time with her: we loved to sing together to Linda Rondstadt and Cat Stevens, dance at dances held at St. Andrew looking for our latest crushes,or spend time hanging out in her bedroom, while partaking of  teenage adventures, many of them while working at McDonald's on Northern Blvd.  And, she was the first person I knew who was a vegetarian. At  Annie's home there was always a welcome cup of tea and I have a particular memory of a trip with many friends in a moving van (courtesy of father Joe) to hear musician brother Steve play at his next gig.  As we grew out of our teenage years, I lost touch with her, but never forgot her. Annie was a times fearless, vulnerable, loyal, wise beyond her years, and a  trusted confidante.  I think we would have been good friends in our later years; she loved, I learned from her friend Stacy that we cared for similar things; especially a good game of scrabble and a love of words. When I first learned of Annie's passing, I put on a cape that I had in my closet and which I hadn't worn in years,   I wore it in tribute to her.  I think, if Annie and I had a chance to meet after our teenage years and well into our golden ones, I think we would have picked up right where we left off.

It is with  sincere shock, sadness and peace that I share my condolences with Anne’s family and friends over her sudden passing… I’d  worked with Anne at RCFC for the past few years… from day one we hit it right off… even when she voiced her concern over my use of a straw as a threat to turtles somewhere in Troy??  I’ve never met any of you but feel as though I know you all after we spent countless hours talking, sharing stories of our lives, tales of her youth, love of her family, our shared passion for plants & gardening (many of which  she gifted me & which are still alive to this day / she’d always ask)politics and on occasion a racy little joke at the copier at work which always seemed to tickle her the most for her to share while peaking out from behind her stoic cape… she truly touched my life forever in more ways than you’ll ever know…tales from her early years on the family farm,  care for her parents & younger siblings, how she would light up when talking about Kelly, her devastation at the sudden loss of her brother, her lifelong struggles with alcoholism which she held crushing guilt, shamefully and privately… she was so afraid people would find out… I’d be remiss for not thanking the author of her obituary for holding off until she passed before publicly outing her addictions as that truly would have destroyed her…. Maybe people knew but her biggest fear was that they would find out…I will truly miss Anne  and our always interesting chats… her spunk…she was one of the bravest, kindest, most generous souls and I’ll forever keep her in my heart… may you finally Rest In Peace my Friend… I love you too Anne❣️

My sincere condolences to the family of Anne Reed. I worked with Anne at McDonald’s in the mid-Seventies. We shared great times and I treasure those memories. Anne was so kind and em was a joy to be with. I will miss her and I pray that she is at rest in God’s peace.
