

Betty (Thigpin) Tomassetti, long-time resident of Queens, New York, passed away in the early morning of Tuesday, April 14, 2026. Born in Spiro, Oklahoma, Betty moved to New York in her early twenties. She worked as a receptionist for a manufacturer when she met and married Dominick Tomassetti. They were married for 52 years when Dominick passed away in 2020.
Betty helped in Dominick’s family’s restaurant, the Old Roma in Flushing, NY, and she enjoyed decorating the restaurant for holidays throughout the year. Betty loved animals – cats, dogs and birds in particular – throughout her life she cared for dozens of pets and neighborhood strays, up through her last fur-babies Prince and Sweetie.
Betty Tomassetti was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence Thigpin and Rena Mae (Martin) Thigpin, her brother Bob, and her husband Dominick Tomassetti, and is survived by her brother Buck Thigpin. Betty was a beloved aunt to Charles Tomassetti (deceased), Andrew Tomassetti, Philip Tomassetti, Gina Hill, Chris Zander, Thomas Tomassetti and Karen Zander, as well as to Douglas Thigpin, Debbie Squires, Donna Stratton (deceased), Dana Hilburn, Derek Thigpin and Bret Thigpin.
A service to honor her memory will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Quinn Fogarty Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, NY 11358, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm followed by brunch.
